We would like to wish all our customers, both old & new, a very happy Easter.
St George's Day was a major feast & national holiday in England on a par with Christmas from the early 15th century.
However, this tradition had waned by the end of the 18th century after the union of England & Scotland.
In recent years the popularity of St George's Day appears to be increasing gradually.
So we thought that we would celebrate this traditional day with a classic English menu.
Classic prawn cocktail served with butted brown bread
Grilled Bury black pudding with apple butter & English mustard sauce
Toad in the hole; Kirkham’s sausages wrapped in streaky bacon with a rich red onion gravy
English mixed grill; sirloin, Kirkham’s sausage, pork chop, kidney, gammon, Bury black pudding, fried egg, fries & salad
Rhubarb crumble with vanilla custard
Old Victorian sherry trifle served with sponge finger biscuits
